Sometimes you can cut them and it's okay. You have to use a grinder or sawzal. If you use a torch, you'll mess with the springs preset spring rate. It's not really a good idea, especially on a good car. If you have a beater, or a car your trying to budge rally/drift or whatever, it might be worth a shot before you buy springs.
