Ha guys I just bought my 94 celica hatchback with 130,000 miles and am trying to get a good deal on car insurance. THe place I usually go to doesn't look so good. I am 30 years old and have a totally clean record.
-Just Liability was $198 for 6 months or -Liability with collision was $624 for 6 months!!! -When I asked why it cost so much for collision she said that it *probably* was due to the fact that it has 2 airbags....and they can cost $2,000 to replace a piece!!! -Wouldn't a safety device be more of a benefit than a negative for car insurance? -I wanted Liabillity and collision but at that rate I can't afford it..... -What do you guys pay? ANy ideas??? Got a good place to get a quote from? |

Wow some of those prices are rediculous.
Well for me here in Sydney. I pay $AUS600/yr for third party insurance which only covers the other parties car, not mine. Or I could pay $AUS1350/year for full comprehensive insurance which covers everything. Clean record, under 25 and the car is valued at $AUS18,000 -------------------- ![]() 98 ST204 ZR - Black Beauty - Roaming the streets of Sydney 73 TA22 LT - Tiffany Blue - Mint Classic Weekend Cruiser 75 TA22 LT - Snow White - Mint Classic Weekend Cruiser 77 RA28 LT - Flubber Green - Mint Classic Weekend Cruiser 94 MX-5 NA8 Clubman - Red Racer - Looking for corners WIP Project: 69 RT40 Corona, 2nd WIP Project: 66 RT40 1600s Corona 86 Corona RT142 - Daily Driver 6GC 4 Life Baby!!! |

I am currently paying $1,450 for comprehensive insurance (65% NCB, clean record, U25, live in one of the worst areas for theft) which is fairly expensive, however, not as bad as when I was with one of the larger insurance companies and was paying $3,500 per year (that is also with the 65% bonus - do the math for the full premium)! -------------------- ![]() |
