anyone kno if there are any sway bars out there that are shorter than the factory one?

how are your swaybars hitting frame?
they would literally have to go up about 12" or more

12 inches? Try about 1" clearance on a lowered car.

i know your trying to do the right thing for your motor, but this is one of those times where you should just trust the guys who have had their swaps for a while and have done a ton of research into this.
