Knocking Noise, help me :( Options

Okay this is weird. I don't beat on my car at all but my car is knocking like hell. I woke up this morning and all of a sudden there's a knock. I know that when people beat on their cars it starts the knock noise but mine? tough luck. I took it to an auto shop and they said that I may need a new head? sound right? Well the noise is coming from the left side of the motor (when standing in front of car looking down at engine). Could this be a sign that my valves are not good? Or do I just need to adjust my valves? Timing belt perhaps? I have no clue since I am not the type of person who has a good knowledge of things under the hood. Well plz help me out guys/gals. Thanks people.


****Also can someone help me on how to adjust my idling. It idles at 2000K RPM and that's frickin' insane. I don't know but I just woke up to all these crazy stuff. Gez. If it's gonna cost money to fix I'm selling it. There might of been a talk on this on here but can't find the page. If you know plz lead me there! Thanks

I know you will have to try to get a sound clip on here... most mechanics say they have to really hear the sound to make a decent diagnostic...

well the mechanic used this one stick to hear the knocking and he said it was maybe my valve. i asked if it needed to be adjusted and he said "no you need a totally new head". i was like "no, maybe just needed valves to be adjusted". well ill have a sound clip in a little bit...i dont know how to put it on so my sister has to come over to put it in. thanks JAWS...13 views and 1 reply...huh...hahaha jk
