My last oil change was done at the dealership. So today I went out to change my oil and everything was going smooth until I hit the filter. SOMEONE at Toyota must not have been paying attention when they said "Don't Screw on the filter like you're Rambo". So I reach up to get it, no luck. Reach Down to get it. No luck there. I got out one of those oil filter wrenches, but it couldn't shrink enough to fit. I sit in my garage pondering how to do this. I go and search the tool bench for something useful, and I stumble upon a good friend...Sandpaper. I ripped off a piece and went to the filter again. After a few twists the filter buckled like an 8 year-old girl. The world was saved and the filter was removed and banished to the deep layers of hell.
Moral of the story- If you ever are having troubles getting off your oil filter, use sandpaper. It works. -------------------- 1991 MR2 - T-tops - Crimson Red - Gen3 3SGTE - Lots of money

QUOTE(95CelicaST @ Mar 13, 2006 - 4:41 PM) My last oil change was done at the dealership. SOMEONE at Toyota must not have been paying attention when they said "Don't Screw on the filter like you're Rambo". So I reach up to get it, no luck. Reach Down to get it. No luck there. Moral of the story- If you ever are having troubles getting off your oil filter, use sandpaper. It works. No its not the person at the dealers fault, its the filter alone. Toyota filters once you put it on and the engine gets hot the filter will get stuck there tight. Thats what my friend told me because he changes oil at toyota dealerships. I had some problem when my friend did my gf's 97 collora and i was like damn why you got to put it on so tight dumbass, now i can't take it off. But he told me it was toyota's filters. Its like that. Good luck trying to take that filter out. |
