Hey all-
I am going to be doing my timing and AC belts most likely this weekend. I am not sure that I need to, however I bought my ride with 119k miles on it and no service records. Everything I have heard is that if a timing belt goes on a 5S-FE it is a travesty. SO- That in mind, I plan to just go ahead and change it. What I am wondering is what all should I consider before getting started. I am pretty sure that none of the dealership parts departments are open on Sunday, and have short hours on Saturday. Has anyone here ever done their own timing? What all is involved? Are there any other parts besides the two actual belts I should have ready? Any input would be greatly appreciated. The 5SFE is a non-interface, so if the belt brakes, you valves and pistons aren't going to connect. But the pieces of spinning belt fragments can do some damage on thier own.
To do replace the timing belt, see EG16: http://www.celicatech.com/imagearchive/bgb...ngine/EG/EG.htm Its a major pita to do with the motor in the car. -------------------- Scott
