I know you said that you don't want us posting if we're not interested in buying, but I hope this will help you sell your car....
To those of us in California: You CAN SMOG a car with a different motor IF: The engine is a California SMOG legal engine (the engine came from anoter car that you COULD have SMOGed here. JDM's are not Cali SMOG ready). The engine comes from a similar type of vehicle (Passanger vehicle vs Commercial vehicle). The engine came from a car the same year as yours, or newer (this gets tricky with production years overlapping). The engine has all the original smog equipment from donor vehicle. If the swap meets these qualifications, you call up CHP and tell them you want your car reffed (or blue stickered). They will set you up with an appointment to go into a CHP Ref place which will check your car out (mostly making shure it still has all the original smog equipment) and then put a blue sticker in your door jam. Then you go to local SMOG shop and smog it. My old room mate did this with his Honda (put an Integra motor in this Civic), so I know it can be done legally. If you have questions on this, check out the DMV and CHP web sites. ~J~ |
