Right now I'm really unsure of what to place in my front doors. I have teh 3 speaker panels. I wanted to either place good component (6.5+tweeters+stock 4") or 2 subwoofers (plus aftermarket tweeter and 4").
I want good sound quality with good bass, I like the 8" door sub setup cause I wouldnt have to carry a sub box in the trunk.. -------------------- ![]() -Rémy 02 SiR, 08 250R |

Subs in the doors has worked well for me, though I haven't completely gotten rid of all rattles.
If you do go this route, it's probably a good idea to keep your rear speakers to bridge the frequency gap between the 4"s and the subs. JL Audio 8W0 are the beefiest subs that will fit without major modification or a new enclosure. 10 minutes of trimming 1/4" off the bracket and the door to allow room for the magnet will do the trick. They are $90 apiece. Don't mind the 75 W power rating, JL is known for their low power ratings. Their procedure is to test the maximum wattage the sub can take for 8 hours without blowing, half it and round down to the nearest 25 W. I've been running mine with 120W apiece and have had no problems. Of course, if you are a bass-o-phile, then they will not work, but I like my system very much. I'm just not serious enough to do all the work of fiberglassing an enclosure. -------------------- |
