I've recently read in an old sport compact car issue - that the power in N/A mr2 cars was bumped up in 93 to 135 hp (im assuming at the flywheel). Isn't that still alot better than the 97' gt's 5s-fe? Since my motor's on it's way out neway - i thought i'd look into finding a 93 n/a mr2 (preferably wrecked) and salvage it's motor. Can ne1 confirm the 135hp on these motors? and since they're both 5s-fe's ... would i have any problems swapping the mr2 motor in, or have to deal w/ any ECU problems or downgrade the OBD? Thanks for any answers or oppinions

A 97 gt still has the 135 hp at the flywheel. Toyota bumped up the power for the 5s-fe in 94 from 130 to 135, but if it is a california car then you will only have 130 because they had to meet emissions. Definately go with a newer engine!
