So I've got a really easy question for the mechanics out there. How necessary is it to have that small rubber seal that goes around the timing belt cover? Mine got killed when I took the cover off, and I'm wondering if it's worth paying for, and waiting 4 days to get a new one, or if I can just go without it.

It wasn't too hard. It took me and my dad a while though, only cause it was the first timing belt we'd ever replaced on a Toyota.(it was my first ever) The whole thing cost $31.(the price of the belt) I don't know about doing a how-to article...maybe I would if I'd taken pictures while I was doing it...plus I felt like quite the amature myself.
