So I've got a really easy question for the mechanics out there. How necessary is it to have that small rubber seal that goes around the timing belt cover? Mine got killed when I took the cover off, and I'm wondering if it's worth paying for, and waiting 4 days to get a new one, or if I can just go without it.

It wasn't too hard. It took me and my dad a while though, only cause it was the first timing belt we'd ever replaced on a Toyota.(it was my first ever) The whole thing cost $31.(the price of the belt) I don't know about doing a how-to article...maybe I would if I'd taken pictures while I was doing it...plus I felt like quite the amature myself. biggrin.gif If you're planning on doing one, I'd be more than willing to tell you what I can though. wink.gif

As above, you didn't change the water pump kindasad.gif What about the belt tensioner?

of course I didn't change the water pump...it hasn't gone out....yet. lol =] Which ones the belt tensioner?

the thing thats gonna start squeeling then seize in about 10K miles (or less) causing your Tbelt to jump teeth or break and leave you stranded by where jesus lost a sandle.
