So I've got a really easy question for the mechanics out there. How necessary is it to have that small rubber seal that goes around the timing belt cover? Mine got killed when I took the cover off, and I'm wondering if it's worth paying for, and waiting 4 days to get a new one, or if I can just go without it.

That small rubber seal is just to keep water and other road crap from getting inside of the cover and contaminating the belts and pulleys.
Think of it as a oil drain plug gasket. Sure you could go with out it but there is no guarantee that oil wont get out. |
