So I've got a really easy question for the mechanics out there. How necessary is it to have that small rubber seal that goes around the timing belt cover? Mine got killed when I took the cover off, and I'm wondering if it's worth paying for, and waiting 4 days to get a new one, or if I can just go without it.

The biggest reason people change the water pump with the timing belt is because when the water pump does go out the timing belt will go with it. Thats exactly what happend to mine last year.

Thats exactly what happend to mine last year. Hmmm.....that makes sense. I think that's what happened to an old tercel I used to have. The engine was fine though. Anyway, the girl I just bought it from said it was replaced a while ago, so we'll just have to hope it lasts another year till I get another engine in there, won't we. ![]() -------------------- ![]() |
