OK...i just got my hotwires today..put them in no problem. But before i put in my last two wires i looked inside the boot and noticed a small amount of gel on the inside of the rubber hose that extends into the engine and to the spark plug. After i put all of them on i started my car up and WHOAH!! the damn thing sounds like a piece of crud old school bug thats about to break down. It sounds likes its running on 2 cylinders ( i dont know that for sure but its really spaced out and weak sounding) I started it...backed it up alittle...realized it had absolutely no chance of smoothing out...and pulled it back into the carport for further inspection...i checked everything and all my grounds are connected...is that gel posing a problem?? or is there something else im not doing? Please help...thanks alot.

The gel stuff is inside the rubber boots that go onto the plugs right? That is supposed to be there. It is electrically conductive and stops corrosion and arcing.

macavely, you might be right about the crossed wires, else it could be one of the wires in not pushed on all the way. Check them all again and try it. If it still is rough, put the old ones back on. I have heard of the odd time that you get a bad wire out of the package. If it is rough with the old ones on, you may have disconnected something else. good luck!
