I've serached this forum but can't seem to find any main topic about whether a stock 2nd gen 3sgte needs a turbo timer.
Anyone know if it is really necessary? I don't have one right now so i always let the engine run b4 i turn it off to let cool down for a couple of minutes. Do i really have to do this? or does the 2nd gen have some device to let the oil flow round for a little while |

you dont need one. what you are doing now is fine.
i just let my car idle while i go open the garage door and put it away for the night. if im just running into a store, i just shut it off and dont worry about it. i dont think any of the mr2 or alltrac guys ever reported any type of issues from not using one. -------------------- 15PSI - 30MPG - Megasquirt Tuned

This is especially true if your turbo is water cooled. If you don't have a water cooled turbo, a turbo timer or proper idle down time is important after boosting. -------------------- QUOTE(lagos @ Jul 10, 2006 - 1:55 PM) i know your trying to do the right thing for your motor, but this is one of those times where you should just trust the guys who have had their swaps for a while and have done a ton of research into this. |
