Race with a VR-4, but not with my celica Options

well normally i drive my car around with two of my friends and the smaller one is always BSB(back seat bitch) so earlier today we decided to go to fry's electronics right by burbank airport. Lately i have been commuting in 405 traffic so my friend drove.

he has a 1991 300gt sl model with an auto tranny and a few problems but its still has a decent amount of power. anyway, we were on our way to the freeway and this time i was BSB. its safe to say that compaired to that car, my car has a roomy back seat. in this city it takes a while to get to the freeway because of distance and traffic. but on the way we see a 91-93 3000gt VR-4 with a bashed rear end, but non the less a VR-4. we slowly went past him and my friend looked at him as we passed. then when we were ahead he quickly got behind us, we are pretty sure that when he saw that my friends car was not a vr4 that he was gonna try to rub it in.

the guy was a crappy driver, we would have to slow down to let him catch up through the traffic. he followed us for about 15 min over 5 or 6 miles. at that point my friend said he wants to race and that he would probably be slaughtered. i dont know how much you know about these car but, as powerful as the vr-4 is, it is a whole lot heavier and has a power robbing awd tranny. i reminded my friend of this and he decided it was ok to be beat by a TT version of his car.

we finally hit the an open road and at a 35mph start both cars went off. up untill 55 he was still behind us and slowly moved left. up antil about 80mph we were about 2 car lengths ahead at 85 he was barely passing us, at 90 he was 1 car ahead when a Jag pulled out infront of him and we both slowed down and he cut us off.

we got ahead through the traffic and we could tell that he and his GF were scared sh!tless. they did not even see the car pull out because they were too busy looking at us.

it was, as with all car races, a thrill and a sign that AWD is not always a good thing. un modded that car has about 100 more hp than my friends SL. it was also pretty cool to see active aero in action.

when we got to our destination we got out of the car and my friend patted his spoiler and said "good car"

i replied "every one has a time when they are proud of their car"


any one care to share a time when they were really proud of their car?
