lol so coming home on the freeway giving it gas something said "no more" on my 5sfte. I dont think its block/engine related but instead something directly related to exhaust gases or manifold pressure i.e. turbo turbine or egr valve.
so heres the symptoms: 1 ticking noise kinda sounds like a mountain bike going foward but with the pedals not moving. 2 noise only happens on -40 ish kpa any thing less then that it wont tick 3 noise is not dependent on rpm and stays pretty steady all the way through the rmp range if the manifold pressure is above -40 kpa beacause of these things i think it has something to do with something related to the exhaust gasses that are coming out of the engine. At first while driving i figured maybe my turbo turbine got old and finally said bye bye. but checking my gauges i still was able to attain full boost pressure with out lag. No smoke from bad turbo seals leaking water or oil. When i got to my house i poped the hood and reved the engine a little and noted that it sounded like the noise was kinda coming from the intake maniflold area which is where the egr vavle and modulater are. I just changed the modulator cus the nipples broke off, but the egr valve is still stock. tmw im guna c if i can run the vac lines to keep the egr on all the time and c if the noise is more constant. |

Is it just me, or is -40 Kpa ALOT of vacuum? .10 is equal to ~14 PSI = 1 Bar, so wouldnt -40 be alot of negative manifold pressure?
In any case, I hope you can find the cause of the sound and fix it without too much trouble. I'll cross my fingers that its nothing too critical. ![]() Good luck man. -------------------- 3rd gen ST205 3SGTE - Alive and boosting. |
