Hey everyone,

Noob question here, so bear with me, since I couldn't find anything through searching. Just wondering what kind of fuel you guys put into your celicas. I realize that anyone with a swapped or Turbo'ed 6G obviously uses Premium, but what about those of you running 5SFE or 7AFE engines? I would think using a higher octane fuel would increase performance a bit, but does it? Or is it dangerous for the engine? Any more importantly, is it even worth it with the rising cost of gas... Thanks!

The grade of fuel has to do at what point the fuel combust due to compression / heat. It doesnt help 'clean out' anything. Suffice it to say there is a difference between buying 'crummy' 87 octane, and quality 87 octane (which will have some additives to help clean the motor), our cars have no need for a fillup of premium. If you're worried about cleaning up carbon buildup run some cleaners through the motor or buy a better QUALITY of gas, you dont need a higher octane. it doesnt warrant running on premium.

for those curious about reading about gasoline in detail (ie none of you)
