Ok, the Eclipse cd deck was installed professionally(cant go wrong with a 1 year theft replacement), and I am almost positive it has an stock amp. I dont think they would have hooked it back up to the amp. So at volume 68+(out of 80) and not very loud, the music is unclean and blares. I do not understand. Should I just buy a new deck thats unamplified and do it myself? Or rewire the speakers to go to the deck?

Dude a little confused after reading your post. But I will try and reply. If you have the stockamp, it may or may not produce more watts rms than your eclipse. There are some decks (headunits) on the market with produce some amazing rms numbers. Now basically you say when you turn it up the sound quality of the music goes to crap, while the sound level goes up. If you are trying to drive your factory speakers with the eclipse headunit's built in amp, than you have two scenarios the speakers are being overdriven and willl be trashed, or your headunit it running out of power. Also if you like having the bass adjustment urned on or heavy bass, and you crank the volume, the speakers will sound like crap, becuase its trying to produce low bass sounds which they cannot handle well. I don't now of any headunits that don't have a built-in amp.
