Ok, the Eclipse cd deck was installed professionally(cant go wrong with a 1 year theft replacement), and I am almost positive it has an stock amp. I dont think they would have hooked it back up to the amp. So at volume 68+(out of 80) and not very loud, the music is unclean and blares. I do not understand. Should I just buy a new deck thats unamplified and do it myself? Or rewire the speakers to go to the deck?

I am not new to the sound area or anything. I understand that turning your music up loud distorts it. It is just ONE certian point I go over when it distorts. It doesnt distort more as I go up higher. It did this with the stock speakers as well. I am gonna open it up back there and look, but I am at work and just wondering for things to look for. I have the bass on -6 as I don't really care for it. The deck boasts I think 55x4 or 50x4 as it is an Eclipse. I'm thinking that they left it hooked to the amplifier and it just cuts out past a certian point because in my 5GC I could go all the way up and have very little distortion and VERY loud mids and highs. Eclipse also makes decks with no built in amplifiers. I am pretty sure Alpine does too.
