Ok, the Eclipse cd deck was installed professionally(cant go wrong with a 1 year theft replacement), and I am almost positive it has an stock amp. I dont think they would have hooked it back up to the amp. So at volume 68+(out of 80) and not very loud, the music is unclean and blares. I do not understand. Should I just buy a new deck thats unamplified and do it myself? Or rewire the speakers to go to the deck?

There are some decks (headunits) on the market with produce some amazing rms numbers

I don't now of any headunits that don't have a built-in amp.

for the first part i know that some sony or panasonic decks say the have like 60 watts peak and like 30 RMS

well thats a lie...kinda..

that 30 watts RMS that its producing is at 1-5% THD. go ahead read the owners manual it will tell you that in there..........at 1% THD (total harmonic distortion) your speakers will blow.

in the truth its more like 15 watts that they can produce without distortion...

if you dont believe me. go to a stereo shop or something and ask them to show you a 30W X 4 amplifier. i can almost 100% guarantee that it will be way bigger than a deck that fits in your dash. how can a little ass deck produce those numbers but aftermarket amps are so big. thats right the people with the decks arent telling the whole truth

what they do it hook up the deck to a dummy speaker that doesnt produce any sound it just measures wattage and THD. once they achieve w/e wattage that they want then thats what they advertise. they can say that legally because later on in the owners manual they tell you that that wattage is at 1-5% THD.

now for the second thing about no headunits that dont have a built in amp.

sony, clarion, pioneer, kenwood, etc. all them make decks without a built in amp.

the reason for that is it can produce better sound and operate cooler because there is no amp in there.

they arent cheap by any means. probably around 500+ dollars.. but they are really good.

dont think i am dissing you or anything...just replying...
