im trying to fix an area of my car that needs some paint. i started out by sanding everything. then i painted the area with touch up paint. then i tried to wet sand everything with 2000 grit paper to smooth out the uneven paint. problem is that as soon as i start to sand, the paint turns into this gray color and has no shine at all. am i missing something?
i also tried to use some turtle wax polishing compound to bring the shine back, but was unable to do so. what am i doing wrong here? i thought 2000grit wet sanding is what you do as a final step to smooth everything out? my next plan is to resand everything smooth and use rattle can paint. that way i can get a smooth coat and not have to deal with the touch up brush. -------------------- 15PSI - 30MPG - Megasquirt Tuned
