I noticed at the Citgo gas stations around me they start putting a big sticker over the pump that says "10% ethanol." My dad said to not go there anymore because of this.

So I was wondering if that ethanol is detrimental to our cars? Thanks guys.

ok, ok...alot of misinfo spreading around...

ethanol is not harmfull or take on water as its brother methanal..which is made totaly different (Meth is a by product of the production of natural gas). Gas already has ethanol in it, they proably are just saying that it does for the appeal..back in the 80's they tried selling e85 and oil companys put out alot of lies about it being corrosive and such.

The exact same thing happened back in the early 1900's. henry ford saw ethanol as the future and actually made his cars to run off of it. But oil companies would acutally sell at a loss or very low profit if the gas stations would not carry ethanol.

It is not going to hurt a vehical in anyway, it is acutally better. it burns cleaner and cooler. i have seen people put down over 1000hp on e85, more than race gas!!! (twin turbo v8s)

i have been looking into acutally making a still to make pure ethanol to run as fuel, 190 proof(which is the easiest to make than 200 proof) is around 115 octane when compared to fuel, plus it burns cooler and acutally cools down the combustion (so you can run more boost smile.gif )

it actually helps performance, so don't shun it.

Steve

the only reason why cars can't run off of it is becuase the fuel mixture is differnt (about 10% more i think)
now if you use a standalone or a safc you could.
