172.1 (1) If a police officer has reason to believe that a person is driving, or has driven, a motor vehicle on a highway in a race, the officer may,

(a) request that the person surrender his or her driver’s licence;

(b) order the motor vehicle that was being driven by the person to be impounded; or

(c ) both request the surrender of the driver’s licence as provided in clause (a) and order the motor vehicle to be impounded as provided in clause (b).

I work at a performance shop now and 2nights ago, one of our coustomers who has a 500hp Vette was racing 3 other vettes up a highway and hit a devider at 200+km/h. Hez in cricical condition and most likely wont make it. Becuase of these new laws and this accident, plus another accident about 2 weeks ago with some guy who was runnin his civic up younge street doin 176km/h that hit another car killing 2 ppl, they are making strickt new laws about street racing. Last night they proposed a bill to punish street racers, they approved it and even set up a demonstration of what the new bill intitles by noon today. Pretty much now, you get caught street racing, your car gets crushed. They had 2 old souped up civics that were impounded by the cops from about 2 and a half years ago that they crushed live on tv to show how serious they are. But yea, the ontario gouvernment is becoming really strickt on street racing and their laws.

Personaly, I think these laws should be put in place mainly because i dont want to see any one else i know get into an accident. We even had the CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corperation) *biggest news company in all of Canada* come down this afternoon and talk to the owner of my work about the parts we sell aswell as the whole contraversy regarding Nitrous Oxide in our laws. Ill post a link to that video when i can find it
