Ok, so I have put up a couple of posts about what swap I should do and decided to do a 4age 20V "silvertop swap". My problem now is that I feel like I made a mistake. I feel like doing this swap into my 1994 st isnt worth it frown.gif . I mean, ive been reading a couple of topics on this site and it looks like the very few people who have done this swap has all complained about not getting the full power out of their 4age 20V that they should be getting(please correct me if im wrong). Aside from that, all my friends are also telling me its not worth it as well. They all have Hondas and their telling me putting a 20V 1.6 VVT motor into a 1994 Celica is like putting a B16 DOHC VTEC into a 1994 Integra....its senseless!!! Their telling me that their reason for saying this is that the Celica body is heavy as is an Integra body so why would anybody put a 1.6 in their car if the can put a 1.8 like they do in their Integras. Now me getting a Honda is out of the question because I dont want to scoop that low plus I live in the Bronx and those cars get stolen like candy!!! I was thinking about getting a 1988 Toyota Corolla SR5 being that its rwd, the 4age 20V is more suitable for the car, and it weighs less than the Celica(if im not mistaken). Im a college student so I dont have big bucks to spend on a 3sgte or even a 3sge BEAMS(witch I was really looking into). 6GC.NET MEMBERS, PLEASE HELP ME frown.gif !!! I mean, if anybody can at least tell me how 2 tune the VVT correctly in the Celica so I may get all the power I should be getting out of it, that would do me good enough. Then I can just worry about turbo charging it so I can clean all of my Honda friends(being that im the only Toyota in the clique)!!! I really dont want to get rid of my Celica because I dont want to be like everybody else and just get a Honda. Plus they look nice and I boutgh so many parts(interior and exterior wise) including this motor and I dont want to just get rid of it. My lil brother has a 1989 240sx with an SR20det redtop and all my friends like I said have GSR's and LSVTEC's and so on and so forth and im just feeling like the ass of the clique!!! So please guys, please tell me what 2 do. You guys are the only ones that can talk to me and help me with my Celica. Thanx.

Quincy

But if I was to throw some low comp. pistons and turbo it, wouldnt that defeat the purpose of the VVT?

That statement alone is the reason why you should know what you want before wanting it. Get what I mean? Understand what things are, why they are, and what you want and why you want, before deciding you want it. Jumping in out of excitment for an 'pretty' lookin engine is pretty silly.

A lot of Toyota people are not gonna like the 20V simply because it doesn't feel much like a typical toyota engine. That doesn't make it a bad engine or anything like that... because the build potential with a 20V is VERY high. It just depends on what you're capable of, and how deep your pockets go.

Oh... and one more thing. Don't do it to fit in with a group of people. Car crews and friends who run around in packs have always bothered me simply because pressure blinds good sense. Don't that dictate your wanting to mod your car.
