Most of the cars are from 70s and in really bad condition. the roads have no markings and the traffic lights are for show only. The horn is as essential as the brakes as their are interchangeable. Driving in 160 kmh and changing lanes all the time is normal. And then ofcourse there are the horses and the carts.....
and btw the width of the road is never the same. it goes from 4 lanes to 2 and then to 4 again. but as there are no markings on the road, they drive wherever they want. This is the most scary driving i have ever seen. And if there is an accident, they just continue if nobody is hurt. getting in a taxi and going from one place to another is the most scary thing i have ever done. At least I am staying at Four Seasons |

QUOTE(neoklis @ Jun 20, 2006 - 8:22 AM) And the buses are even worst as they are very old and run down and as you can guess the law here is that the person with the largest vehicle wins. In general I think Cairo except from some good neighbourhoods is really third world place. I am going back to Cyprus on thursday with a new appreciation of my country. not to mention how overcrowded they can get, it gets to the point where people are crammed together barly able to move...very dangerous This post has been edited by nader: Jun 20, 2006 - 8:44 AM -------------------- ![]() |
