I have a good deal on a 255/40/r17 for mi celi the wheel is 17x7 offset +35mm could they fit?

so ive been reading this topic...
i have a 16X7 rim with 205/45/z16 Toyo tires what it the widest i could/should go (i need new tires soon) is 205 best? or should i go 215? or somthin diffrent. anyone have any suggestions? im not looking for biggest...im looking for performance. thanks --------------------  |
