hello people!

about a month ago i FINALLY became an owner of a 6th geni celica - after many years of craving for one. much of the SQ audio system i had in my ex-corolla is now waiting for an installation. i was looking today for some kind of hole i could use to put in the 10mm2 (awg 1 or 0 i guess) power wire (from the battery to the cabin) but couldnt find anything frown.gif

i'm running a 97 ST with air conditioning, abs and all the good stuff.

also i'll probably be getting new speakers for my car. bare in mind, GOOD speakers are a NIGHTMARE to buy here (and i pretty much CANT order stuff from the net). the choice comes down to three contenders: jbl gto6507c OR apline type S 171A or ground zero hydrogen 17cm components (a completely unknown yet quite expensive german brand). i believe the JBL component system should sound the best and cost the least, but i'm waiting for feedback from all you car audio enthusiasts (i know there's a whole bunch of you here! biggrin.gif ) for the speaker brand decision (and please, please dont recommend stuff i cant get. frown.gif trust me if i could i'd get polk's or mb quart's or infinity's but they are NOT an option in this $h17hole country mad.gif )

the cleanest and easiest way to install the wire is to run it inside the driver side fender

Take off the door sill (just pops off) and take off the driver side kick panel.
Jack the car up from the front driver side, remove wheel, pop the hood
you can find a hole next to the battery, right under fuse box. Stuff your wire in there. Take off the screws holding the mudguard to expose the inside of the fender. Pull your wire all the way, run it along the stock wire loom. On the driver side kick panel area (outside the car) you will find two grommets, one of them has a nipple on it. Cut the nipple off and stuff your wire through. You'll probably have to stretch it a lil bit for 0AWG wire. From the inside the car, pull the wire all the way.

Reassemble the mudguard, put the wheel back on and drop the car
Pull on the carpet by the door to expose a long white box that runs front to back. On the side of the box you will find clips that would normaly hold small (4AWG or smaller) wire. Cut all the clips off and run your wire along there. The carpet will hold it in place when you put it back. The rest is self explainatory. Run the wire inside the rear side panel or under the seat, etc...

Reassemble, hook up the rest of the gear and crank it up wink.gif

Thats what I did and yes it takes way more time and sometimes just a killa but it does make a clean install. I did it because I didn't feel like cutting through the rubber surrounds in the engine bay wink.gif

Always take the time to do it the right way biggrin.gif

I did this procedure on rayme's celica and it took me less than 15 mins start to finish, took me a lil longer previously when i did it on mine w/ 0g wire and having to figure the whole thing out. Having the luxury of someone telling you "the right way" is priceless.

this "right way" really sounds right, but could you maybe share some photos or more tips with us? especially around the mudguard part... looks to me like i'll mess something up there for sure. also, this would be priceless for the how-to section dont you think? once i get around my car and run the wire i'll be sure to take lots of photos for future celica-newbies.
