Was the headbutt stupid? Of course, but i can see why he did it. I admit that soccer is a sport that is extremely difficult to play and is challenging, but has the p*ssiest athletes in the world. One lil tug of the jersey and they fall to the ground like theres no tomorrow and have to be carried on a stretcher and come back a minute later like nothing was wrong with them. Gimme a break. Granted, some of those leg tackles do look somewhat painful, but most of them are harmless flops. And especially with all the yellow and red cards in this years world cup, it was just horrible. I think it just got to the point where Zidane was frustrated and from what i hear, Zidane is one of the few soccer prima donnas that doesn't flop or dive. Im not making excuses for him, but i can see where he was comin from.

So, they often do some acting, especially the closer they are to the goal so that they get a set kick towards the goal and have an opportunity to score. I have a lot of respect for these athletes. They probably need more stamina than football and basketball players given that the action stops much less, and they are playing 90+ minutes, which is much longer than a professional football or basketball game. |

There is nowhere in what i said where i disrespect soccer players. Like i said, its a hard sport to play. I just think that the game should be played the way its supposed to be played without the acting and flopping. Same goes for the NBA players. With all do respect to soccer players, but u cant compare 90 minutes of soccer to 60 minutes of american football, cuz if they played 90 minutes of american football, there wouldnt be enough players in the league to play a full season cuz its more physically demanding. ALL sports should be played with the highest respect and the way its supposed to be played, regardless of the difficulty of scoring. -------------------- Note to new members. If American "Football" players tried playing 90 minutes of soccer, then they would collapse from either heat exhaustion, dehydration, cramping - or in the case of the 300 pound "athletes" on the offensive and defensive lines - heart attacks. |
