I can't resist any more. I use to think it wasn't a good idea to turbo the 5sfe. Then I thought it just wasn't for me. I've been doing a lot of research these past few weeks, and I think I'm ready to say, "I'm going to try for a turbo." I've been doing some hunting on mr2oc, and supramania for the parts I need. Contrary to the sticky, you can't exactly find a ct26 for almost free. I think I have found one though. I have 3 things going at this point. 1. I could get my metro up and running and build it all motor which I found out I can push around 120-130whp for under a grand. 2. I could put a turbo set-up on the Celica. 3. I can stick with the NA, and shave/polish/port head to increase compression to around 10.5 or maybe even 11:1, and get rather megasquirt (if I can find cheap) or SAFC2 and sway bars and springs.

turbo the metro, the 1.3L suzuki engine can push 200-230whp with good tuning. theres alot of support for the suzuki swift, you can swap in some GTI parts and probably GTI suspension, it'll go quick and turn well.
