 Ominous check engine light |

For a while off and on i have had the egr 7-1 check light, and it seems to be killing my gas milage. I was just wondering if there is any way to check this out at the house. Iv checked vacume hoses, and iv replaces the vaccume modulator (from the junk yard) and i was jsut wondering what else to do.

when i removed my pcv some rubber broke off too and fell inside, i havent had any probs yet.
