Well I've tried to fix this by tightening everything down and making sure the hatch isnt twisted or anything, but it just wont stop. My hatch rattles all the freakin time. I dont have subs or anything and never have. But with my stiff ride due to many suspension upgrades the latch just sqeaks on every single bump in the road. And there is alot of bumps in the road. If anyone has any suggestions, im open.

There are 2 rubber bump stops on the back of the hatch...take the ones off that are bolted to the hatch and put a metal washer behind them and put them back on...should fill in some gap and put pressure on the hatch when its closed. Might have to try different thickness washers or a few to get it right.

Just did it today. Took off the screws and popped 3 washers (1/4" sized) in. One in each of the screw holes and one in the centre plastic nub part. Tried to have a stack of 2 instead of just 1, but it's too troublesome to the 2nd set in place while screwing it in.
O ya.. if any of you are going to try it, be careful after removing the screws.. the gas strut popped fully when I was getting it out, and since one end was still attached, it came outside the trench and scratched the side of my car on its way down Hopefully one set of washers will do the trick.. will update after I test it out this week. I just read this a few more times and wondered if I added the washers to the rigth place... lol... the more I read it, the most it seems I did it wrong. |
