So I'm putting on new brake pads tonight (thanks LewFX and everyone else for all the info / links in the brake pads thread I started a while back - I opted for the Hawk pads) Anyway, I want to paint my calipers. My Celi is silver so I decided to go with blue accents throughout the car (none of which i have really started on yet).. dupli-color engine enamel w/ ceramic - color: ford blue DE1601 for the calipers.. What I am wondering is how long I should wait to put them back on? The label says "apply in two light coats, followed by one medium wet coat. apply all coats within one hour, allowing 10 minutes between each coat. for additional coats after one hour, wait for 7 days for pait to cure. dries to the touch in one hour. can be handled in 3 hours." Does this mean I have to wait 7 DAYS to put them back on? If so I am going to have to get a spare set to mess around with this as I dont have another car to get around. Thoughts / suggestions? Couple random side questions: Where is a good place to get a nice selection of high heat paints online / locally? How much are the gt4 calipers / are they a direct swap / where can i get some? |

why are you taking the calipers off?
just tape off where you dont want paint, and paint them right on the car. -------------------- Former Team 5SFTE pro member ;)

QUOTE(presure2 @ Aug 16, 2006 - 11:36 AM) why are you taking the calipers off? just tape off where you dont want paint, and paint them right on the car. he's swapping out the pads, so they have to come off anyway. to some point. rather than just undoing one bolt and swinging them. also, it'll help keep overspray down on all the undercarrage and suspension parts. -------------------- |
