Like I stated in the other post, I found out a few days ago that my engine is going bad. Which means engine swap. I'm not sure on many things so I figured I'd make another post asking questions I may have. Please try to speak in n00b because I don't know much about cars. So here goes:
Engines I'm looking at: 1mzfe (V6) 4agze 4age Questions: 1) Will any of these give me bad traction on take off? Dr. Tweak stated the 1mzfe puts out 190 HP and has more Torque than the 3sgte. Not sure about the other 2 engines. 2) Which would get better Gas Mileage? 3) What exactly is a Tranny? Is that the Transmission? 4) What Tranny would you recommend? Camry V6? Other? 5) How much roughly for the Tranny? 6) Which engine would you recommend personally? I don't want the 3sgte, out of my price range I'm leaning more towards the V6 cause well it's a V6 and you don't see many Celicas with a V6 in it, but I'm starting to worry about Traction. Car will be a street car so no drag. That's all I can think of Price Range is probably 5,000 may go alittle over but not much |

wouldn't the 1mzfe be faster than the 4agze. If so, then why would you choose the 4agze over the rest for performance? Plus 1mzfe wouldn't use high octane, would it?

I would highly suggest to go with something that is a direct swap into the engine bay. If you decide to boost the engine to gain more hp and torque over the 7afe, then I highly suggest the 4agze. The 4agze has internals that can withstand some boost and is supercharged from factory. If you go n/a than any 4age will be good, whether its a silvertop or any of the 16v 4age. I have the 20v silvertop in my celica and all I can say that it's pretty good on gas, and has good top end power. But it lacks low end torque. The Camry v6 engine that you are referring to may have alot of torque and good hp, but will be bad on gas when compared to the A-series engines. And it will definitely cost you alot to do a 7age build because of alot of custom work needs to made. Getting to the point, I would go with a 4agze into you st celica because it will be better since there are alot of parts available in the us. The 20v will cost you a good amount since parts need to be bought from japan. The camry v6 and 3sgte should be out of the question since mount modifying and alot of other custom fabrication have to be made to make them fit. It will cost you alot of money.
