Title says it all, all I have is my original starter, cleaned up. I'd like to have it reinstalled by this winter. Thanks for looking.

Oh really?
And what if it's the armature that's bad?
Or a bearing?
Or the brushes?

They almost NEVER rebuilt AT the dealers anyways. I have never seen it done at all, but I havn't been to every dealer in the states, so I can't say.
They just replace the whole thing and send the old back as a core.

Your dealer might still do rebuilds, I havn't been there.
I wasn't saying they DON'T change the contacts, but that is not all they do in a complete rebuild.
Now if just your contacts were bad [which is the case the majority of the time], they very well might have just replaced them.
However, that is NOT a rebuilt starter. It is a starter with the contacts replaced.

your right, im just mentioning that with our starters, this is the most popular problem that causes them to stop working. its deff not a complete rebuild, but a band aid to the problem for a few more years.
