So, i decided to go on a road trip yesterday/today. I drove from my house to Ottawa. Its about 1000KM back and forth. So I know my headers usually give off some heat, but wow! After about 5 and a half hours of driving, every thing under my hood was stupidly hot, and also my re-located cat was so hot that it was almost impossible to touch the center console. So, i already wrapped part of my headers, but not all of them as of yet, about 80% is wrapped. So after this, my engine bay is so hot that i cant even open my hood now (even though ive been home for 40 min and the cars been sitting). The car otherwise is running nice and cool. Temp gauge is below middel, oil is fine, just every thing else is stupidly hot. So, ive got 2 days b4 i move down to school. So i have to wrap up the rest of the header, my down pipe and my cat just to help keep the heat in. Any one else who has headers have a problem with ecessive heat??

if its a thinwall stainless header then wrap isnt bad for the cat, that thinwall stainless lets out alot of heat which isnt so great.

however your stuff shouldnt be getting that hot, if your cat is radiating out that much heat i would think that you're running rich and burning up your cat. with extended driving my unwrapped header would get the hood hot, but no hotter than sitting in the hot sun all day.

i think this excessive heat could be an indication that your engine isnt running right.
