Ok i have my garret and its an intrnal wastegate turbo..so im wondering if i need a bov??
i know a few people that have turbo with the internal wastegate..and two of the dont have a bov and one of them does..but they all said i dont need one..im just looking for some knowledge fom outside my little realm -------------------- |

for the intelligent answer:
yes you need one, wastegates have NOTHING to do with the need for a BOV/DV/BPV (watever you may call it). wastegates control when and how much boost you make and deals with EXHAUST gases BOV/DV/BPV deal with INTAKE air... when you get on the gas in a turbo car it pushes air into the system when you shut the throttle all of a sudden the air has nowhere to go and can potentially surge back and damage the turbo and/or your throttle body the BOV/DV/BPV releases the pressure on the intake pipes and reroutes it around and back into the pre-turbo intake track...thus eliminating the potential hazard of compressor surge/turbo damage/throttle body damage |
