Hello, everyone. I just had a 1991 MR2 turbo FWD tranny placed in my car as a replacement for the AWD tranny. It's the perfect swap except that I have to get a new set of axles (maybe because those on the Celica are long) and a halfshaft to complete the project. Would those have to come from an MR2 as well and from what year if so?

Thanks,
nemesis

You need the inner 1/2 shafts for the transmission and outter 1/2 shafts off an Alltrac. Then refer to the short axle solution for any problems that come up with the passenger side axle being too short.

Make sure you get the proper axles and not LSD ones.

axle non LSD->even if he has LSD tranny?

LSD was not an option for the 90-92 MR2s. Only aftermarket units were available.

eggman40, is the '91 MR2 turbo tranny the same code as the '92 (e-153)? And is your tranny manual? I am assuming that you have the 3SGTE motor in your car?

p.s. Thanks for the info!

I used the mr2 turbo half shafts, and used a 92' V6 camry(nonABS) outter axels to go into the hubs of my 94st celi. I used a 1992 camry axles because my e-153 tranny is from a 92 mr2. So far about 5 months and still no problems. Hope this helps

Same code, same transmission.
