here is a pic of a toyota 5sfe timing belt with ~100k on it..it came outta itchyb's old 5sfe.
this is the reason toyota recommends doing the timing belt every 60k. good stuff, heh heh..

How much does a timing belt change cost (ballpark) on a 7a?

I'd do it for like $650. -Doc Wow. Maybe that's the going rate where you are; I have a Toyota Dealership in Milwaukee offer to change mine (5S) for 170 (parts and labor)... I'm sure you'd probably throw in a water pump, though. Never wish for a timing chain. They can still fail (look at the problems Volkswagen has with their 1.8T). Plus timing chain engines are almost always interference, so when they do go, your engine is essentially done. |
