Ok guys, you got me... I will write how i made my kit
![]() First step - Idea Everything starts from idea. All you need is good imagination, sheet of paper and a pencil. I used my car outline that i made with photoshop: ![]() Then i printed the outline and used pencil to draw the design that i had in my head: *This is just the example* ![]() Same way i drawed the rearend design and side skirts... Then i got the look on the paper, i started to think about actualizing it. Second step - Makink the mold For the mold i used 2 component poliuretanium foam, it dryes very fast and it is easy to cut and sand. For the base i took my original front bumper, cleared it with some sort of alcohol ( i dont know how you guys call it in english ![]() ![]() Then the foam was dry the first thing was to get off the panel from the foam (i just used knife to cut it from the form) after that i started to cut the form from the foam . Cut the right form and try to make both sides of the bumper equal as you can ![]() ![]() ![]() Third step - Fiberglass Then the mold is finished, use some sort of wather glue to glue the aluminium foil to your mold, do it carfully and dont leave spaces. Then the aliuminium foil is glued, start to lay down the fiberglass. I used 4 layers of fiberglass, and the final product had the 4 mm thickness. Then the fiberglass is dry try to remove it from the mold. Remove the finall product, and after that remove the mold from the car. Then the mold is removed mesure the final product on uor car, and enjoy the new look ![]() ![]() The look after the some bondo and primer took place ![]() ![]() This is the basic teory how to make your own fiberglass kit, if where will be more questions let me know, i will try to answer them:) Hope you guys get it all what i wrote... It was hard for me, cuz im not so good in english, so forgive me for the mistakes i made ![]() P.S. For MY bumper i didnt used the aliuminium foil cuz i didnt wanted it to be removed, so i used the foam straight on my bumper and the fiberglass was layed straight on the foam too. Then fiberglass dryed i used about 50 rivet's to fix the fiberglass to my front bumper. P.S.S. Coomer if you think this could go to HOW-TO section feel free to add it... And please correct all the grama and speling... ![]() Thanks for reading ![]() yours truly doGGy ![]() This post has been edited by doGGy: Jul 23, 2003 - 5:29 AM -------------------- Ex celica owner - just a guy from other side of the pond...
