you guys DO know that power falls off on the ST at around 5600rpm? revving above that isnt making any power.

Gearing. not really true.... if you're revving up to 6000 rpm you're still in the same gear that you just passed peak power in, unless you have a magic shifter and you jump from 2nd gear at 5000 to 3rd at 6000, you're still in 2nd when you're at 6000 rpm. the ST's (7A-FE's) power band is centered around its torque which begins relatively early around 2500rpm and falls off just before 5500rpm. HP quickly peeks up near redline at around 5600-5700rpm, and everything falls off very steeply after 6000rpm because the engine cannot breath at that speed. the head, valve size, and cams are the reason why. now all of this powerband talk is assuming you're stock. theres a few things that'll change this, FI, NOS, some bolt ons. ive noticed that the best part of my powerband is now above 3500rpm, really pulls good around 4500, but definately fades right around 5700rpm. the F head and cams are centered around a low-mid rpm powerband for fuel economy and lowered emissions. -------------------- |
