I would like to know what are the reasons why a celica ST with auto tranny can't use a 4AGXX engine without having to swap the tranny ?

well, I have access to a 4AGE black top, but I don't have money for the tranny right now and if I don't install the engine on my car I won't get it free. so what should I do ? I have 3 weeks to take a desicion
