Hey,
Lately I've been getting a funny thumping noise from the engine. it seems to be only when I accelerate or have constant throttle, If I let off the gas, or take it out of gear, it goes away. The noise is coming from somewhere in the engine bay. I can't do it while parked, it only comes when the engine is actually moving the car (simply parked and reving won't make noise). Its not super loud, but its noticable when the radio is off. It seems to be about 2-3x per second, increasing in frequency.as the car speed increases (not the engine rpm). The oil has been recently changed. I tried switching to higher octane fuel (I normally run 87, I tried going to 91 with no luck.) Any ideas for things to check? -------------------- ![]() psalm 69 |

Of all the engine noises I've ever heard from a Toyota....Not one made me laugh. I've had a chuckle or two at sounds coming from the back of Honda Civics.
As far as your situation...If the vehicle is in moition when the sound occurs..Check the transsmission and drive train. Motor mounts especially. After I put a new clutch in I heard a sound perhaps like yours. The mount near the battery had torqued itself loose a couple turns. After it was tightened, no sound at all. I believe there are 4 or 5 mounts. Good luck. This post has been edited by InfamousChappy: Oct 6, 2006 - 10:04 PM |
