So I have noise coming from my engine bay or the surrounding areas when I accelerate. I know my clutch is probably going since reverse and 1st are sometimes tough to get into. But when I accelerate, sometimes there is a noise kind of like two cans rattling together or a thin metal baseball card against spokes. It happens more when I have been driving for a bit, and also seems to happen more at lower speeds.

I also seem to be burning a little more oil than before, but not to any extent that I am concerned with it yet. I tried searching for this problem but could not think of any more rattling adjectives or such to try. If I can helpwith any more information, I'll try. Also if this has been posted before a link would be helpul. Hope it goes in this one and not suspension, nut it could also be something in my suspension.

Thanks

Trying to answer Xelan's question, it could be a bad cat. converter since you mentioned it's more noticeable at lower speed. Does the exhaust sound like it quiets down like an exhaust clog at higher speed or rpm? If it does then it is the cat. converter. If not, then something else is probably rubbing or loose somewhere on the car. Trying to answer Massbrandon's question, does the sound come nore noticeable when the car deccelerates? Or after revving the engine a few times while at park? If it is, than it's likely that the exhaust manifold gasket is bad and needs replacing. I remember my in-laws corolla making a bird-like noise. But if it's not that, than it could also be a bad water pump. Had this happen when I still had the 7afe on the celica. Hope it helps. smile.gif
