Hello,

basicly what I want to know is what kinda work is involved with fixing my engines new problem

I think its rod knock, basicly either the connection between one of the pistons (chamber 3 or 4 i think) is warn out causing the piston to vibrate back and fourth or the rod has warn out, it still runs or kinda does, got me to the shop dieing along the way, but all ways starting back up. its just a loud mettle to mettle clunk that gets exstreamly loud as the rpm goes up, but is almost silent at idel. also what kinda fixes are avalible? I want a quick fix that will get it though the dealers inspection when i trade it in, not like a band-ad but something to make it run good even if for a short time. or does it mean a new motor? from what my mechanic said he seems to think it shoulds bad enough to need a new motor but may be something easyer, is this a comon problem I have not hear about it being common at all for the 5sfe motor but idk.

my plan was originaly (before my engine went) to trade it into a dealer in Dec for a new car, I would like to still be able to do that but if its gana cost that much I might as well part it out and scrap the left overs, or even keep it buy a 5sfe and put it in myself as a project car only thing is that I would end up buying a new car much sooner then exspected.

any and all info would help.

your best and cheapest option is to find a used 5sfe and swap it in yourself.
