There are a lot of people who want to pull the emissions crap off our crappy US spec motors to try and make them more powerful and closer to the JDM versions. I've started to just pull stuff in hopes that I figure something out, but I'm new to this. I would like to make a thread, and possible sticky, that explains how to remove all emissions equipment and shows pictures for both the 5sfe and 7afe motors.

just taking off the emissions stuff wont make them more powerful like the jaydee-emm motors
JDM 7A-FE's had a more agressive PCM program (fuel and timing were more agressive'ly tuned since japan has different fuel than we do), some had TVIS even, and i'd imagine that they also had slightly different cam grinds as well. Same goes for the 5S-FE, but I dont know if they had TVIS in japan on that motor. cirumventing the Evaporative emissions system will be a pain in the ass and pollute ALOT, and i really do mean ALOT. also you'll probably loose fuel economy and literally be letting your $$$ evaporate as those fuel fumes evaporate into the atmosphere rather than getting drawn into the charcoal canister and burned in your engine later. maybe converting to FED spec emissons closer to a 93 7A-FE would bring some gains, you'd be ditching the EGR and ditching the TW WUC (precat) and raising the rpms back to 5600 for peak power (cali and later fed's were dropped to 5200, also possibly tinkering with cams to shift power down lower, so swap in early fed cams). -------------------- |
