dang its so weird to see a car like that that has the same back end aa a celica coupe, but yet have a whole different front end...
I dont get it. So like when the Curren was being invented, did the designer just get lazy and just take the back end of the celica? The Curren to me is just weird... but that is a nice one, might I add... This post has been edited by CelicaBuddy: Oct 20, 2006 - 1:44 PM -------------------- ![]() 2003 Nissan Murano SE |

QUOTE(CelicaBuddy @ Oct 20, 2006 - 1:43 PM) I dont get it. So like when the Curren was being invented, did the designer just get lazy and just take the back end of the celica? My understanding of how the Curren fit into toyota's lineup at the time was that it was designed to be more conservative and luxurious than equivalant Celicas... Compared to the Celica, they had the availability of Super Struts in the ZS since their release in feb. of 94, you could get more spec. in comparable 4WS models, and they had some unique features available over time like Pearescent paint... They actually sold quite well- in the 4 year run they had Toyota sold 44,686 of them (wikipedia japan). This is speculation on my part, but I woulden't be supprised if the Curren came abouts the same way that the Corona Coupe came about when the 4th gen. Celica was introduced- Japanese design studies showed that many japanese customers would prefer the more conservative front end appearance, but world markets preferred the more agressive form, so Toyota produced both and thus the Celica carried the aggressive front, and the Corona Coupe recieved the coupe bodystyle of celica with the conservative front in the Home market to satisfy both customers... I threw a picture of a corona coupe in just so you could see how similar the two concepts between curren and corona coupe are- ![]() This post has been edited by saleeka: Oct 20, 2006 - 3:00 PM -------------------- Car #3: 98 Accord LX- purchased 5/06, totaled 8/06
