Ok. So I bought this double-din stereo for my celi from eBay japan. It's a Panasonic AV150. I've already done a google search but couldn't find out anything on this stereo. I like how it lights up green (like the stock dash), front A/V inputs and is still almost factory looking...
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Anyway, i need some help in figuring out some things with this headunit. and here are the questions: 1. The pic below shows a Sub Code and CD-C connector. What is a Sub Code connector and what is it for? I hope this is for plugging in a GPS system. That'd be cool... 2. I'm looking to add a CD changer where I can operate it from the headunit and not have to meddle with remotes or anything. So would any MP3 CD changer work? ![]() Below, there are 3 connectors: AM/FM Antenna, FM DET (wire with an RCA plug), RGB-In (looks like a S-Video input). 3. I noticed the radio ranges from 76 MHz to 90 MHz, which (not suprisingly) is the range they use in Japan. Anyway, after a quick google search, there was a New Zealand classified thread of a guy selling this stereo and it mentions that an 'FM Extender' can be added to reach higher levels of frequency (ie 90+ Mhz). Where can i find this 'FM Extender'? 4. What plugs into the FM DET wire? 5. What is the RGB-In for? a DVD player? ![]() 6. What's this, a microphone plug? Sweet! Now my passengers can sing karaoke! Is that what passengers do in Japan? hahahaaah.. ok nvm, you don't have to answer that ![]() Below are the inputs and outputs for external devices. 7. Most are pretty straight forward but what is the 'V-CNT' for? 8. What is the RM-Out for? ![]() 9. When i press the 'D-M' button on the upper left corner, the screen goes into AM/FM Radio mode and shows "DM 1620". Does anybody know what that means? I'm guessing it has something to do with a navigation system. ![]() Any help would be greatly appreciated... QUOTE(celica47 @ Oct 29, 2006 - 10:38 AM) hey man sorry i cant help but i have to say that HEad unit is BADA**, how much did you pay? thanks.. i got it off kyoto-exports from ebay for $169 plus S&H. got it in only 5 business days and came with two sets of external TV antenna's. QUOTE(jess_i_74 @ Oct 29, 2006 - 11:34 AM) CD changers are usually proprietary by brand if you want to control them with the head unit. Universal CD-changers use an FM-modulator. i figured.. i had this one old cd changer that had the same connector. also, on another deck with cd changer controls had the exact same connector as the one labelled "Sub Code" above.. i'm guessing that's a CD-changer connector too..? -------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
