So I just got my Tien S-techs yesterday and next weekend I'll be pulling my car into the garage and my dad and I are going to do it up. My question is that after reading the instructions which are a no brainer since i've put coilovers on.. it said i should cut my rubber stops in half? Has anyone else had to cut thier stoppers or should I just not worry?

I guess i'll cut them a little but I always thought it wasn't good for the shock to compress that much and thats why the stopper is there. Anyone an expert on shocks?

QUOTE(6gcSTVT @ Oct 30, 2006 - 5:40 PM) I guess i'll cut them a little but I always thought it wasn't good for the shock to compress that much and thats why the stopper is there. Anyone an expert on shocks? they are there so if you were to bottom out, it wouldnt be so violent. Notice that if the stop wassent there. the top hat (metal) would hit that small perch on the shock (also metal) its just there for ride comfort. Cutting away at it will not affect you in any way. I cut mine in half when i had my Ground Control Coilovers on KYB shocks and it was perfect. At first i didnt and the car say a little higher. But after cutting them the car sat just a little bit lower and the ride quality was not affected. |
