there is always benefit to lsd, however i think its all relative for desired power... many of us i think are happy under 300, which, if you have a good set up, torque steer becomes less of a problem... its all a traction issue, read up on the in the stickies section... of course lsd help, but i dont think its all that necessary on our cars, unless you want to get into the higher number range... power wise

Not always. My friend, whose doing up a 300zx is sitting at 404rwhp. He converted the tranny from an auto to a 5spd, but when he did he opted for one w/o a lsd. The way he set his suspension up, he had better acceleration from a stop w/o the lsd than when he had it in.

but 404 whp, on a rwd car let alone an awd car isnt that bad... remember they have a lot fewer problems with traction than we do with fwd. 400whp on a 300zx would be like the equivalent to id say about 150 hp (not exactly just pulling numbers) average swaps run numbers around 225-250 whp on our cars, which is a lot a lot on a car not properly set up, i just dont think that lsd is THAT much of a necessity if you plan on staying in that range, because there are other things you can do that will also help the traction issue.

and your friend more than likely got quicker because of the auto to manual swap... not so much from lack of the lsd
