Ok so here is the story.

I have a HP Pavillion ZE4900 Laptop. I've had it for ehhh 3 years.

Reciently it was overheating alot, thanks to my geek buddy i realized my fan wasn't working. After calling a few places and getting quoted too much money i decided to take matters into my own hands.
Sooooo i took my laptop apart (BIG pain in the ass) The fan was so full of dust, and thanks to my beautiful Bella... cat hair. So i clean it out, compressed air and all, put it all back together ( with the exception of one screw i can't figure out where it goes. ) I turn the computer on, and it seems fine.
15 min later, it dies, the fan wasn't spinning.
So i go to Circut City... i got a targus notebook chill pad. Works great. All of a sudden my fan starts to work again.
So now, with the fan and chill pad my computer is doing fabulous.

OR SO I THOUGHT!

Yesterday i was online and i got a blue screen that said something to this effect:
( BLUE SCREEN )
It says something about if this is the first time restart the computer, which is stupid because it doesnt let you restart, and it restarts on its own.
Beginning dump of physical memory.
Physical memory dump complete........

It happened last night for the first time. Then i was watching a movie and it did it again. At this point i just shut it off.
This morning i put the computer back on and other then my active desktop needed to be restored it looked fine.

anyone?

Art thank you smile.gif

I was ready to call it quits on this. Sometimes the fan goes on... sometimes it doesnt. I hear it TRYING to go on. It makes a clicking noise, but it's not catching i guess. So, i'm going to leave my computer OFF untilll i can get a new fan, i dont need to damage the poor thing any more.

Are there any other places i can look for a fan? E-bay doesnt seem to have my computer...

In regards to ur fans, if it's a normal centrino cpu (i might be wrong, our technology like 2 yrs behind u guys) and taken into consideration that the fan loooks clean, basically it kicks in when ur computer detects that the cpu is reaching a high temperature state, therefore powering up. Once it detects that the cpu is at a safe operating temp, it shuts off, with a normal computer when a cpu is overheating, it either restarts and or freeze up, usually there is an alarm to warn u that something is at a critical point. I myself ran across this feature with my Pentium M 1.7Ghz (yes it's old i know tongue.gif ), however this generally standard across the laptop range, as because constantly supplying power to the fan reduces power and that the laptop cpu are generally less hot compared to normal computers. As for the suspecting memory error, what u can do is download yourself a copy of Hiren Boot CD and run a memroy diagnostic, this will determine whether ur memory is faulty. Also it doesn't hurt to clear up ur hard drive and do a fresh installation of windows. Well i hope thismight help you with your problem wink.gif
